What a busy highway
This tree is
The tracks are never ending
Seamlessly they merge
Into one chaotic mess
Up and down
This way and that
What busy lives
The creatures of this tree
Lead.

This reminds me of the inside bark of ash trees. Unfortunately, we’ve lot most of ours (here in southern Ontario) due to the deadly invasive emerald ash borer, but the trails they leave on the inside of the bark (where the larvae develop and then eat their way out) is fascinating. There’s a lot to be learned from paying attention to the wonders of Mother Nature and her creatures of the forest.
