An ode to single parents

By God you are amazing

I really wonder how

You manage to parent children

When you are alone – not in a crowd.

I struggle to think of dinners

Yet alone to remember to sign those notes

As to making lunches

Independance is my new byline.

Every day and every night

You are duty bound to answer the call

“Help me with this homework,”

“My phone isn’t charging.’

I am tired of this already

A mere three and a half months in

Fortunately for me

Only four more weeks of this.
