Slightly crazy writer and passionate educator for those who struggle
This regular exercise (with no work to distract me) is pretty good. My mindset has changed quite markedly. Today, I decided that I would do some treadmill walking/jogging so I could walk at a decent incline, then I would do some weights and include tricep dips. It’s important to be well rounded with exercise and I am noticing some changes. I have no idea why as it is the food that impacts your weight the most and I haven’t been watching what I eat other than trying to avoid snacking through boredom. But I want to be well rounded and weight-bearing exercises are just as important as cardio. Some say you lose more with doing weights because your metabolism keeps working for you after you have completed the exercise. I don’t care – I just want to be a 90-year-old kayaker.
I got up later today – but I also got to bed later so it all evens out – and headed up to the gym. My keycard didn’t work. It didn’t work on any of the locks which is odd because it worked the other day. I headed back to the apartment disgruntled. My child is cooking me breakfast and I know it won’t be good for my physical health (mental health maybe – we all need a treat occasionally). When I was stressed from work I would have to take this as an indication not to exercise. Today I did not. I did this killer full body weight and fat burning YouTube clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fK0VnI3DLg
This program was a definite challenge for me and to surprise myself there was jumping involved and I did do the jumping. The difference to yesterday is that that there was only one jumping exercise – squat jumps. No star jumps – thank goodness. I liked it. There were roughly 5 minutes of exercises, repeated on the legs, the same on the arms and then the core – damn planks! Still, no warm-up or cool down and no explanation of the exercises however I had a better attitude because I could handle the jumping at the start.
Also, some of the activities I had done before so it wasn’t completely new and there were exercises that I liked (before I started). Supermans used to be one of my favourites – I didn’t realise how many variations you can do. I am going to be sore tomorrow 😊.
I finished off the program (sweat pouring off me) with 20 minutes of yoga. I felt very relaxed afterwards as I normally do from yoga. It is a stretch for me during yoga (pun intended 😊). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU5DdpC1gNs This was a very good program because it was all standing (I was a bit sick of the carpet). Everything seemed gentle enough however I felt like I had worked out at the end of it.
Pretty happy with my effort today – tomorrow I will surely feel it.
I have a standard yoga/pilates workout I do every other day (alternating with weight training); cardio is the one thing I’m really weak on. I need to change things up, I think (I’m not pushing myself as hard as I probably should). I’m going to check out those video. Thanks! (And keep up the good work!)

No problems. I need to keep the variety up as well.
